Belated Happy New Year!!

New Year 2

Yeah, I found the pc today, am still missing half of my brain though.

Depending on how the pics that I took look on the pc, one or two photos may bling up this post. But not just now. Too much work to fetch cam, upload pics to pc, edit, and upload to server.

I already had breakfast today and shopped for buns and drinks, so my work for today is more than done.

*huffs pitifully*

*huffs some more*
That’s the best I could do, standing shivering in the garden, taking pics of the neighbours’ rockets… I mean, it’s supposed to be blurred like this. That’s art.

Happy late New Years to you too Mel! :)

Is there any buzz in Germany about Tom Cruise’s new movie? I heard that it was not so good from some critic. If thats really true, its a shame. I know the basic outline of the true story. It deserves to be showcased in a “best picture” worthy vehicle!

  2. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

    Hi Mel,

Nice to see you are up and around, well sort of… :P

Happy New Year to you too! Anarki did a good job of relaying your New Year wishes earlier, btw. So you may give him a pat on the back for a job well done. :D

I’ve been busy trying to catch up on a little reading. Of course, I’m still way behind, but…that’s actually a pleasant place to be. :D

I just finished Michael Connolly’s “The Brass Verdict”. Very good. I like his new main character.

I’ve heard “Valkyrie” is good. Hmmm…don’t know about that spelling, but I’m too lazy to check right now. My hair stylist loved it. I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll probably wait until it gets to DVD. I watched, “The Dark Knight”, “Wall-E”, “The Duchess” and “Mamma Mia” over the holidays. All good in different ways.

Now I’m off to scrounge up lunch. I’m starving…

  3. Mafdet Says:

    Happy New Year to everybody!

How’s your cold, Sis? Any better? The Father didn’t sound too healthy the last time he phoned.
And guess what? Hubby woke up with a cold this morning.

…and here, there’s a diarrhea-epidemic. On many doors there’s a sign saying: “Please check with the nurse’s office before entering”. They try to stop the virus from spreading that way.
I hope they succeed, I really don’t want to catch it. Yuck!

  4. Melantrys Says:

Well, at least he’s on medication now. As am I. A brain would be nice…..

  5. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

Very pretty pic, Mel. I can understand completely the blurred effect. It was, after all, a New Years picture! ;)

Geez, you guys, stop with the viruses, diseases and various unhealthy conditions all ready! Take more vitamins, avoid fast food, wear warm clothes and stay away from the typhoid Mary types!

Anyway, get well soon everyone!

  6. David Says:

    Very nice blurs. :)

  7. lelly Says:

  9. Mafdet Says:

    Hi, Sis! Long time no read… ahem… hear… :D

  10. Mafdet Says:

Thx for all the presents, Sis! :D

  11. Mafdet Says:

    *huff, puff, gasp*

    I. Walked. To. Town.
    And. Back.
    And. I’m. Still. Alive.

    *staggers out triumphantly*

  12. Melantrys Says:

@ David: Yeah, there was controversy.
Stauffenberg’s relatives were none too happy with Mr Cruise starring in the movie, and there was also something about them wanting to shoot the movie at some setting that’s off limits to movie shots or something.

    I’m senile. :P

@ Lynnette: Yeah, at the time I had no clue when I’d be able to drag myself out of bed and sit at the pc, and the year was getting older and older…

My books have all been read already a loooong time ago.

@ Lynnette again: ‘S a bit difficult to avoid getting sick if you spend 2 full days selling fireworks at outside temperatures…. Brrrrr.

@ David: At least it’s genuine fireworks from my new year….

@ Lelly: Yeah, what can I say? I’m a genius.

    @ Mafdet: Artsy indeed.

    Well, I hope you’ll like ‘em. :)

And I am so proud of you.
    *cheers*

  13. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

    Mafdet,

    Congrats! :applause:

Hopefully it will become easier. :)

    Mel,

Your books have been all read loooooong ago? That’s not good. Currently I am reading two. I started “Hot, Flat and Crowded” by Thomas Friedman, but then a co-worker loaned me “The Gate House” by Nelson DeMille, so I switched to that. *sigh* It’s very, very long.

    *whispers softly*

No, I didn’t fall asleep while reading your comments section. :P I left the window open while I took a load of laundry out of the dryer.

  14. Mafdet Says:

Yay! I’ll be going home tonight!!!!!!

*hops maniacally up and down, grinning stupidly*

  15. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

    Wonderuful news, Mafdet. :)

  16. David Says:

Glad to hear you are doing well Mafdet! :)

Yesterday America turned a corner. After eight years of darkness, hopefully we will once again see some light.

  17. lelly Says:

    Hello,

    Good to hear Mafdets better.

  18. Mafdet Says:

    *walks in and looks around*

    Hm… no new post yet.

    *slouches off again*

  19. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

Hmmm…Caesar is doing that 25 random things about yourself thingy. I got to about 10 and hit a wall. lol!

What’s new Mel? We haven’t seen you in a while. Or is it awhile? No, no, I don’t want to go there… lol!

  20. attawie Says:

    Hello *hello hello hello*
    Echo *echo echo echo*

    :P

    Where are you?!

  21. David Says:

What’s up Mel? Is the winter in Germany over yet? We are expecting more snow for the weekend. I am ready for winter to be over!

  22. lelly Says:

    lol I think I started something…
some calls it spam, I calls friendly interest in your well being! :D

  23. Melantrys Says:

@ Lynnette: Well, Mafdet is far from being 100% healthy again but already fit enough to be doing her office job, so yay.
Ok, that does not include long walks into town - obviously….

Long is good for books. I need new books. *wills birthday to come faster*

@ Mafdet: Wow, I really didn’t reply here in a while… Going home, are you? *cough, cough*

@ Lynnette again: Yes, good news indeed that were.

    @ David: :)
Let’s hope Obama will indeed bring the light.

@ Lelly: As if you didn’t know what’s going on in Mel-Land…. :P
    There’s a new post, look! :)

    @ Mafdet: Hey, come back!
    Look, there’s a new post! :D

@ Lynnette: Yeah, I was being lazy for a while, please forgive me. But there’s a new post up, look!
Well, I intend to ignore the 25 things thingy.

    @ Attawie: *waves*
    Am right here.
Look, there’s a new post up!

@ David: Well, winter isn’t quite over yet, but at least it was warm enough today for me to have been crawling through the garden with freezing feet, hacking at some weeds and trashing a few skeletal leftover vegetable plants.

    @ Lelly: Pffff, spammers….

  24. Nathan Ballingrud Says:

Trying this again (I think last time I just hit preview and then navigated away from the page; no one ever accused me of being a genius) …

I’m relieved to see that you post to your blog even less frequently than I do to mine. Relieved, and also disappointed. Get back to it! :)
