For his 75th birthday our father invited some family and the neighbours to a Chinese restaurant we frequent at times.

Like always, the food was delicious.

As we only met some of the family there and not before, the odd gift was heaped upon our father.

Little did we know that the owner of the restaurant was observing this and coming to the obvious conclusion: Here was some anniversary going down.

Much later, when she brought the bill, she also placed this in front of our father, announcing “And this is for you”.

I am still wallowing in thankful sentimentality. This was such a nice gesture.

Well, one more reason to go there when eating out I’d say.
